恐竜の皮膚の痕跡が化石となって発見されることがある。そのような証拠から、恐竜は鱗に覆われた生物だと理解されてきた。1990年代に入り、中国の遼寧省で、羽毛の痕跡を残した保存状態の良い化石が発見されるようになり、多くの恐竜が羽毛を持っていたことが明らかとなってきた。近年、大型のティラノサウルスにも羽毛が発見された。                    

Sometimes dinosaur skin impression fossils are found. From such evidence, we understood that dinosaurs were organisms covered with scales. In the 90's, well-preserved feather impressions were found in china's Liaoning province. Those impressions revealed that dinosaurs were feathered. In recent years, feathers from large animal like Tyrannosaurus have also been found.
