恐竜は直立した足を持っており、背骨をくねらせることなく効率的に歩行することができ、他の爬虫類のグループよりも優位に立っていたと考えられる。かかとを地面につけることなく、足の指だけで立っていることから、少なくともその祖先は走ることにも適応していたと考えられる。
大きく成長して体重が増加したティラノサウルスは、必要な筋肉量の推定から、走行が困難だった可能性も指摘されているが、多くの恐竜は活発に行動できる動物だった。

Dinosaurs possessed upright legs and are thought to be able to walk efficiently. The dinosaur did not put its heels on the ground, but stood on its toes alone.　There are bipedal and quadrupedal dinosaurs. Previously, they were reconstructed to walk with their tails dragging, but now their tails are reconstructed in a straight backward posture. The upper body is also thought to have been kept horizontal; for example, the long necks of the sauropods are not thought to have been lifted high.
