恐竜は固い殻を持った卵を産む。モンゴルのプロトケラトプスや北アメリカのマイアサウラの化石には、巣の中で孵化した恐竜の赤ちゃんがしばらく巣にとどまり、成長してたことを示す証拠が見つかっている。また、モンゴルのオビラプトル類では、巣の上で抱卵していたことを示す化石も見つかっている。
